The sword represents military readiness; the olive branch symbolizes peace. The olive branch entwined around the sword conveys the unit motto "Peace Through Stability." The lighthouse denotes guidance and safekeeping. The canton with the lighthouse on the mound symbolizes the Old Cape Henry lighthouse, alluding to the unit's location in Virginia.
