Description/Blazon
A Gold color metal and enamel device 1 3/16 inches (3.02 cm) in height overall blazoned as follows:  Purpure, a sphere Azure gridlined and fimbriated Argent, overall a sword erect entwined by an olive branch Or; on a canton of the second, upon a mound Argent (Grebe) garnished Gris, a lighthouse of the fourth.  Attached below the device an Ultramarine Blue scroll inscribed "PEACE THROUGH STABILITY" in Gold.

Symbolism
Purple and white are the colors traditionally associated with Civil Affairs.  Gold denotes excellence.  The gridlined sphere signifies the worldwide mission of the Battalion.  The sword represents military readiness; the olive branch symbolizes peace.  The olive branch entwined around the sword conveys the unit motto "Peace Through Stability."  The lighthouse denotes guidance and safekeeping.  The canton with the lighthouse on the mound symbolizes the Old Cape Henry lighthouse, alluding to the unit's location in Virginia.

Background
The distinctive unit insignia was approved effective 16 September 2011.

That for the regiments and separate battalions of the Army Reserve:  From a wreath Argent and Purpure, the Lexington Minute Man Proper.  The statue of the Minute Man, Captain John Parker (H.H. Kitson, sculptor), stands on the common in Lexington, Massachusetts.
